BIOGRAPHY
Daniel Pontoreau was born in Paris in 1947. He developed a passion for contemporary art at a very early age and was influenced by a new generation of artists who proposed a new way of looking at art, such as the Italians of the arte povera movement.
Daniel Pontoreau was attracted by the free, three-dimensional aspect of ceramics, a medium he chose from the late 60s onwards.
Daniel Pontoreau soon abandoned the faculty of science to devote himself fully to his creative work. In the 70s, he gave ceramics classes in his studio in Bagnolet and began to take part in a number of major exhibitions.
His abstract and singular ceramic sculptures have won him recognition in Far Eastern countries such as China, South Korea and Japan, where his work is represented in several public collections.
