Marisa Albanese, ©Odile Aittouarès, courtesy Galerie Berthet-Aittouarès

Marisa Albanese was born in Naples and graduated in Modern Literature and also from the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples. The artist left us on August 25, 2021.

She used a wide variety of mediums in her installations: sculpture, drawing, language, photography, video. The subjects concern the human condition and its environment.

Marisa Albanese discussed the emancipation of women in Italy in the series des female fighters.   A final installation was carried out in 2000 for a Naples metro station.

The condition of immigrants is at the center of his questioning in The story of the vento. She projected verses of Homer, extracts from the Odyssey, in a loop on the branches of a floating tree.

In the series flapping wings, Marisa Albanese took up the theory of chaos defined by Edward Norton Lorenz formulated by butterfly effect. She   wondered about the transformation of nature and the relationships between the various forms of life.

In 2013, she participated at the Berthet-Aittouarès Gallery in Italian Presence with Gianni Dessi, Gregorio Botta and Nunzio, curated by Lorand Hegyi and Odile Aittouarès.

Permanent installations are visible in public places.

And works are kept in several museums such as the National Museum of Capodimonte, the MADRE Museum in Naples, the Magi '900 Museum in Pieve di Cento Bologna, the Benaki Museum, Athens...
