Fertile crossroads

Fruitful cross-fertilisation takes place at each edition of the fair, notably between Belgium and France.

Another cross-fertilisation is taking place at the Galerie Berthet-Aittouarès, which is offering a cabinet of curiosities to mark the anniversary of André Breton's Surrealist Manifesto (1924-2024), a movement dear to Belgium. It includes the emblematic Egg by Marie Čermínová (1902-1980), known as Toyen, short for "citizen", a nickname reflecting her attachment to France; two dreamlike geometric oil paintings, Les Yeux dans un paysage marin by Henri Goetz (1943), and El Bosque (1939) by Oscar Dominguez (1906-1957); and drawings by Henri Michaux.
