DDessin's stand out artist

It is in the heart of nature and along the Breton coastline that Yann Bagot, a standout artist of the 2021 edition of DDessin, creates his works with Indian ink. There, amidst the rocks and vegetation, the artist merges with the elements to better capture their scale and dynamism. The “Promontoires” series, created outdoors during various stays at the Pointe du Grouin semaphore station, is part of the research he has been conducting on minerals since 2012. These drawings, measuring over two meters in length, are accompanied by the “Titans” series, in which the artist dips his papers into seawater from the shore. Much like the photographic process, saltwater leaves its mark on the surface and acts as a developer on the diluted ink. The tides thus play a full part in Yann Bagot’s experiments, becoming both the subject and the medium of his practice. It is a way of exploring the water cycle and the paradoxical fragility of icebergs, titans of ice now in peril…
