Artist Anne Ferrer is transforming the Edith and Peter O’Donnell Athenaeum with ‘Celestial Weave’, a monumental inflatable installation celebrating the opening of the performance hall in 2028, which forms part of Phase II of the O’Donnell Athenaeum project. This work marks a new chapter for UT Dallas, where art, performance and creative discovery come together to inspire the next generation.

Flowing, biomorphic and luminous, the sculpture interacts with the architecture of the two buildings whilst echoing the spirit of the collections at the UT Dallas Museum of Art. Rather than depicting specific works, Anne Ferrer evokes an imaginary world of aquatic forms, botanical motifs and fantastical creatures that appear and dissolve across its iridescent surface, filling the museum’s lobby with colour, movement and wonder.

Rooted in textile traditions and inspired by memories of her childhood, Ferrer’s artistic practice explores the connections between nature, the body and the imagination. Installed at this pivotal moment for the O’Donnell Athenaeum, ‘Celestial Weave’ celebrates the artistic energy, innovation and spirit of daring that define UT Dallas.
