Georges Badin is a french poet and painter, born March, 13th 1927 in Céret (Oriental-Pyrenees), died November, 23rd 2014 in the same city.
 

Georges Badin first dedicates himself to writing (he is published in the Mercure de France, Cahiers du Sud) and then to painting to illustrate Georges Emmanuel Clancier's, Robert Marteau's, Michel Butor’s texts.

Using words and colors, he paints free-form canvases (without frame) which express more than the text alone. In 1968, he is responsible for the creation of the Textruction movement, with Michel Vachey and Gérard Duchêne. Textruction is a movement close to Support-Surface.

His painting, far from abstraction, does not use immediate similarities with the known world but it opens new horizons. Some elusive body shapes, hills silhouettes, flowers or more precisely blooms, outcrop, floating seas, challenge eye and thought limits.

Some of his canvases are made in collaboration with Michel Butor.

Georges Badin is the curator at Céret Modern Art Museum between 1967 and 1987.
